After three years of building the business and securing a number of major customers, the Food Waste Recyclers business was sold to organics waste recycling company the Jeffries Group in March 2012.
Driven by the gap in the market for true organics recycling, coupled with 47% of all waste being organic (“green”), Food Waste Recyclers (FWR) was founded in 2008 to provide a simple solution, driven by transparent and accurate green benefits for each customer. FWR focus was on developing an understanding of the carbon footprint, trees saved and process review to reduce total waste. Where waste is produced FWRendeavour to turn it into a resource (mother nature’s composting with some mechanics in the middle to do it on a large scale).
Starting with smaller customers, and now servicing hotels, schools, food manufacturers and other producers of food waste; FWR provides an alternative to landfill and a chance for all producers of organic waste to do their bit to keep business cleaner and greener.
FWR raised funds from Zero Waste South Australia (Recycling at Work Grant) which initiated the first customer into the service. The company has gone onto work with major fast food chains, undertake reports on compostable packaging use in hospitality, advise on remote recycling solutions (Whitsundays) and is an industry reference point for the media (TV, radio, conference presentation on recycling).
